A Concert for México
Updated: Oct 30, 2019
4/23/17: On a beautiful Spring Sunday afternoon, about 80 people gathered at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in San Antonio for the first public presentation of Bridges of Compassion. The event was a combination of live music, artistry, media and testimonies, wrapped together to tell the story of Jeff & Veronica’s mission work in Piedras Negras.
The platform was arranged with unique & colorful world instruments from Jeff’s collection which he shared with the audience. Adding more blessing, Jeff’s longtime musical friend, guitarist Les Reisz from the Philadelphia, PA area flew into town specifically to contribute his superb talent to the event. Jeff & Les had performed together as a duo for several years in coffee houses, churches and events around Philadelphia. They had been known for their fun and lighthearted chemistry together and this reunion was no exception.
Scott Barr, Steward of Southwest Exteriors, offered personal testimony and thoughts on ministry in the marketplace, which his company is fully committed to. Southwest Exteriors assisted Bridges of Compassion with significant donations toward the construction of the Ramirez family house, completed at the end of 2016.
And if that wasn't enough, all the while the live music and videos were going on, local artist extraordinaire Joshua Clapp worked at his easel on a special pencil drawing he donated to the ministry. Joshua’s work was auctioned at the event and was sold for a generous donation of $350.
A reception of authentic Mexican hot chocolate and cookies from a famous bakery in Monterrey followed… Nearly $1,700 in donations were offered to the ministry by the wonderful afternoon audience. What a success! We give thanks and praise to our God who is always able to do immeasurably more than we can imagine!
